Since its debut in 1917, the Chuck Taylor All Star sneakers has become one of the worlds most celebrated sneakers, with musicians, celebrities and artists wearing the legendary Converse trainers. The original design features a rubber toe cap, All Star ankle patch and textured white rubber strip that connects the sole to the canvas upper. Through the many years since the original launch, all have all been retained.

Converse first began producing its sportswear and basketball shoes in 1917, to compete with ball manufacturer Spalding. The now iconic Converse Chuck Taylor design is named after basketball player Chuck Taylor who helped refine and improve the design of the shoes in the 1920s. Apparently, Chuck Taylor recommended adding a protective patch to the ankle and distinctive reinforcement which led to the addition of his name in the early 1930s. Even when Nike purchased the Converse business in 2003 the Converse brand and Chuck Taylor range remained.

The brand has developed its colour variations, however, the Traditional Black,Red and White Converse still remain popular Over the years Converse have collaborated with celebrities, artists and designers to create a variety of custom print and canvas uppers. The trainers come in several styles including, Converse Chuck Taylor All Star II, Chuck Taylor Hi Tops and Chuck Taylor Ox Trainers.
